Lake Norman during the fall.
(I don't take credit for taking this picture)
What a beautiful time of year it is. Though I'm not one for the cold weather and I will soon be complaining about being TOO cold, I have Florida blood what can I say! I do enjoy watching the seasons change, one of the many pleasures of living further up north. Its just wonderful to see the wind blow the leaves from trees as though it is raining the colors of fall.
I had such a wonderful weekend. Simple. Just how I like it, spending it with people I care about. Friday, I went to get my portraits taken--my mom's idea for Christmas gifts for the relatives. They turned out okay I guess. When I got home, I just decided not to go out, I like having one calm day just at home, without any hustle and bustle. So I stayed home and watched two movies with my mom. We watched Veronica Guerin, which I highly recommend. Loved it! Then we watched The Day After Tomorrow; which was another movie I really enjoyed, except it kinda scared me, the reality of...Though that was "hollywodized". Once again I recommend it. Afterwards I hit the sack, not going to bed very early but I did sleep in till 11:00; which to some of you may not seem very late but since I started working at the church it has been rather hard for me to sleep in. I have a natural alarm clock go off in my head, which drives me nuts because I'm not a morning person at ALL, for everyone who knows me I'm such a night owl--no matter how early I may have to get up in the morning. I didn't do a lot during the day, but Saturday night a group of us (not all of us--those who weren't there were definitely missed!) went to Campground Massacre in South Carolina (one exit after Carowinds, so it wasn't too bad of a drive--about 45 mins). The one time my brother comes to hang out with us it is too a haunted trail and none of the guys end up coming, so it ended up being Katie, Michelle, Sarah, Ryan (my brother), and myself. Let me just tell you this trail was worth the $17 and my gas money down there, MAN WAS I SCARED! Afterwards we decided to go back to Katies--but first we had to get everyone's cars--Katie's car was at Wendy's and Michelle's was at the church. We get back to the church and some people from the worship ministry are up there finished from unpacking some equipment and are jumping on the trampolins for the Fly Fling for Sunday night's Fall Festival. And since Lee (our worship pastor) was jumping on it I figured hey we can't get in trouble. So we joined it. Jumping on trampoline is so much fun, I haven't done that in forever, but a real workout I got tired quick...just proves how out of shape I am. We finally made it back to Katie & Irene's place, where we watched the STUPIDEST scary movie in history--Dark Harvest--this movie is low-budget independent film, in which I do NOT recommend, unless you want a good laugh. Irene, Alex and Andrew joined us to watch the movie; later Matt & Nathan showed up after the UNC-Miami game (where the Cranes got their butts kicked).
Sunday was another wonderful day--wonderful weather for Oct. 31st! Church was awesome--which it always is. My favorite place to be! After worship at CCC I met up with my family at Olive Garden and ate lunch with them, my brother's friend, Kevin, and the Johnson family. Then I went home and took a well deserved nap. I love naps. That night was the fall festival. Which was so much fun, I wasn't planning on dressing up but I figured hey its Halloween why not?! But last minute deciding to dress up means last minute costume...but I just decided to be a cowgirl. Tight jeans. Plaid shirt. Pig tails. Cowboy hat. Had it all in my room, how great is that? I had a good time. Ran the Jonah booth at 7:00 - 7:30 which meant that I missed the Easystreet Showcase, but thats alright, it gave others the opportunity to see it. Though I got preoccupied, and completly forgot about getting on the Fly Fling--thats alright I'll take being preoccupied over the Fly Fling any day. So overall I would say I had a pretty darn good weekend. :)
